Sophomore Inspire Week Reflection

Paragraph 1- Big Takeaways

What were the biggest and most lasting things you learned during this experience?  What aha moments did you have? What lessons did you learn that you will take with you moving forward through school and work?

The largest and most memorable things that I learned were about having a good amount of patience for the person you’re helping.  Don't always think about yourself and the way you’re skiing but also keep in mind how you can make this kids day by teaching them something that they enjoy.

Paragraph 2- Connections Between School and Work

How did things you have learned or are learning in school connect to what you did in your service project?  What skills did you take from the classroom that helped you during this project? What skills did you develop that could carry back into school?

Like I have said before, I have learned to hone in my patience. I learned to enjoy the environment around you and take the opportunities that are given to you.  My first two days at Adaptive Sports Association, I was given the opportunity to help out and become the instructor instead of being the shadow. I’ve also had a really good experience with the instructors too, they also have given the opportunity for me to learn more about instructing and teachers kids that are younger than me.

Paragraph 3- Time Management

How effective were you at time and task management during this project?  What kinds of structures worked for you, where did time management become more difficult?  What did you notice about HOW you worked when you had big chunks of work time?

The best way for managing my time is to have a lot of communication with my instructor. Because we had work time and also we were given the privilege to have free skiing time.  The best structure that had worked for me was letting the kid, show us his skills and then talk about how we would help him learn this certain thing.

Paragraph 4- Connections to YouScience

Look back at your YouScience results.  How do your YouScience results connect to the experience you had during Sophomore Inspire Week?  Did you see the skills and aptitudes highlighted in your YouScience results in your Inspire Week?  How?

I honestly think that my Youscience results are very related to me. Because I feel as if they are a visual representation of what my personality is in my professional life.

Paragraph 5- Advice for Future Students

What advice would you give to a sophomore about how to make the most from their Sophomore Inspire Week experience?  This could focus on how to choose, what to do once you’re in it, what skills to develop beforehand, etc.

Have the most fun out of the inspiring week and make sure that you’re ready for what you’re going to do for sophomore inspire week. Develop the skill of perseverance and make sure that

What I had chosen for my sophomore inspire week was the adaptive sports association. Essentially what we wanted to do was give back to the community with a different type of community service project. I had chosen an organization that helps kids with mental and physical disabilities learn how to ski, snowboard, sit ski, or ski bike. There were many other organizations that other people have chosen, there were ones where you could rescue dogs and cats and other animals from reservations. Another one was where you were able to plan an actual play ground for a school called Juniper School.
