The

Adolescent

Mind

In this project, we studied how the adolescent brain works and how it can change and develop over time. And wanted to answer the key questions which are What are the works of adolescence and How can the community affect us in a positive way.

The most difficult obstacle that I had encountered during this project was probably thinking of the right words to enter my interview essay. I went through many trial and errors with my rough draft and my second draft. I was given the amount of feedback that I needed in order to make those changes and make sure that the reader could understand what I was writing.

During this project, we had studied how the adolescent brain has worked and how the adolescent brain develops over time. We also studied what its like to be an adolescent and as we are adolescents ourselves we have had a lot of connection towards this project and the connections towards this project really helped us with the core of this project which was what is the work of adolescence and what do we need from the community for adolescence to function properly in our lives.

During this project, I thought about how this project pretty much was how we were studying ourselves and how worked and developed. That showed me a new perspective of myself and how I've been changing and conforming to society and how my morals have changed during these times. Another thing that I had learned was time management because during this project, it felt rushed and I had a lot to do in very little time, and that has impacted me and showed me how I can use my time wisely during this project.

If I were to rate myself in this project I would give myself an 8/10

  1. I am usually prepared for class with my materials, technology, and assignments, but I sometimes forget assignments or materials.

  2. It might take me a few minutes, but once the class momentum goes toward it, I get after the starter or opening activity.

  3. I usually use my class time effectively, but I spend a little time distracted or off task.

  4. I mostly engage in class activities, but I sometimes check out or get distracted, and get off-track.

  5. Mostly I listen when it is time to listen.

Model UNited Nations Venezuelan Refugee Crisis

This project is called Model United Nations, and it's exactly what you thought it would be. We are imitating the United nations and tiring to solve what needs to be fixed. In this first half of the project, we were finding solutions to the Venezuelan Refugee Crisis. We were split into different countries and we had to focus on their idea and what their stance is on the issue.

Project Reflection

You should put this on your DP and share it with Lori as a Google Doc.

  1. Highlights: What is the best or most interesting part of this project so far?  Why is this particular thing so engaging/interesting for you?

The best and most interesting part of this project for me personally was learning about Venezuela's position and how scrambled it is and how the Venezuelan government has done very little to reverse this issue and other countries see Venezuela as an enemy or as an ally.

  1. Growth:  How have you grown over the course of this project (think about habits, skills, knowledge, etc.)?

I have learned a lot about Venezuela's position on its own crisis. And how on multiple occasions they have denied aid and proceeded to say that they are not beggars. And how many countries have invested millions to help the country.

  1. Conference Preparation: How prepared did you feel for our first conference, and how did that preparation translate into participation?  Offer specific examples to support your claims.

I felt prepared at first and then it became very known that I wasn't prepared that much. I had a speech, but then I realised that the speech wasn't good enough, so I had to put some more input and make sure that it made sense, and I feel that it went very badly in that sense.

  1. Refinement: What do you plan to do differently in our second MUN conference in January?  Why do you think this will improve your experience and the conference as a whole?

I plan to do more research and see what my countries perspective is and get a real understanding before I do anything drastic and make sure that I’m in character and let my personal opinions not conflict with my country's opinion.

Model UNited Nations Nuclear Proliferation

Project Reflection

International Diplomacy:

I think that the United nations and the international system of problem solving is quite successful, and unsuccessful at the same time. It's successful in explaining what happens and what needs to be done but sometimes it's not successful in choosing the right solutions for situations.

Growth:

I have learned about diplomacy, and how countries work in the united nations and how they can get to the point and be simple in the wording they do. It's very interesting where the smallest thing in a model united nations meeting, can cause an argument. I've learned a lot about how countries assert their own idea and how they can give a solution even if they arent the source of the issue.

Knowledge:

I've learned that I can write a Resolution paper and that I can write a policy paper with 90% accuracy. I've learned that you have to get straight to the point when you're talking about an issue.

Refinement:

I wish that I could have made my policy paper more refined and more accurate towards my countries perspective. I wish that I could have made my resolution paper more refined also, so it could have a chance in the docket. Because I didnt use much time towards my resolution paper. I finished it approximately last minute essentially.
